Reflecting on 2024 and a Happy 2025!

To close off the year 2024, let’s do a reflection on my Health, Relationship and Wealth.

Health, Relationship and Wealth are what I feel the 3 important aspect of my life that I want to focus on and improve upon. These are intentionally listed in order of priority. But looking back, more often than not, I tend to prioritize Wealth more than the first 2. This is something I really need to work on moving forward.

Health in 2024.

Not really the best in this aspect especially with age catching up.

I had an old knee injury dating a few years back and after a few physiotherapist and specialist visit, I finally decided to go for a knee repair surgery earlier this year. Thankfully, the surgery went well and the recovery so far is good. However, my leg I had surgery on is still pretty weak due to a few months of knee brace and clutches.

Because of this amongst other commitment, I hadn’t been able to do as much exercise as I would like to this year. This definitely got reflected on my health screen result this year. My bad cholesterol crept back to the high side and I was also screened to have fatty liver. The doctor warned me to watch my diet and continue to monitor them in the next health screen.

The health aspect is something that I need to work extra hard on in 2025. If not I might not live long enough to enjoy my CPF monies!

Guess one of the benefit of building up my CPF is the motivation for me to keep healthy so I can live to enjoy the fruits of my labor.

Relationship in 2024.

Relationship hasn’t been great in 2024 either. As I had blogged about earlier, my previous work commitment and the frequent late night meetings didn’t really leave me enough time to catch up with friends and spend time with my family.

Things had improved after I quit my previous job and joined a new company at the end of 2024. Currently with the new company, I don’t have much night meeting and I am now able to spend more time with my family especially with my baby boy.

Hopefully this continues and I am able to maintain this in 2025 and years to come.

Wealth in 2024

I just did a top up of $15,300 to my Supplementary Retirement Scheme (SRS) Account last week. To me, any year that I can and had topped up to my SRS account is a pretty good year.

This is because topping up to my SRS account means that I have a decent annual income that year to justify the SRS top up for tax relief. This also means that I have spare cash at the end of the year to allow me to top up to my SRS account.

On a side note, if you had also topped up your SRS this year, do not leave it in your SRS account earing just a meagre 0.05% interest per annum. Instead, remember to invest your SRS monies for a higher returns. For me, I have invested my SRS monies with Endowus.

So on the wealth front, I really cannot complain much.

With the Bull Run in the Stock and Crypto market continuing in 2024, my portfolio is looking much greener.

I had also managed to grow my dividends and interest income by slowly putting money into the stock and crypto market the past few years and I am seeing the results in 2024.

This had helped me maintained my side income despite the drop in my ecommerce sales this year.

All in all, 2024 hasn’t been the best year for me especially on the health front.

In 2025, I will need to make a more conscience effort to prioritize my health over wealth. Hopefully I can do that and end up with a better health score card in 2025.

As always, thanks for reading and hopefully your 2024 is way better than mine. Have a wonderful New Year and a great 2025 ahead.
