Happy 牛 Year everyone!
This Chinese New Year has been much more muted than before due to the 8 unique visitors restriction. Because of the restriction, we had to do selective visiting, more planning and coordination to make those visits within regulations. It's troublesome, but that's a small price to pay for the health of the Nation.
An update in this year of Ox on our property search. After a few years of property viewing, this could be the year where we finally go ahead with the purchase of a Condo.... This explains the housing mortgage post I made previously. Yes I made a huge blunder in that post but thanks to all the feedback I got from you all, I corrected that. We are now looking at doing Voluntary Housing Refund to our CPF OA and taking on more mortgage loan to take full advantage of the low interests rate environment.
This might not be the best year for property purchase looking at the rise in prices recently. But there are no best time actually. Just like the stock market, its impossible to time the market. We had been looking at a condo purchase since 7 years ago and finally decided to make the move because we finally found a suitable condo that is within our budget and is of the size and location that my wife can accept. Also, there are talks of further measures to curb property prices, which could be more ABSD. Since we are still considering keeping our HDB for rental, we decided not to wait any longer to keep our options opened. So instead of waiting for the best time, we took the jump when we did find something that we can compromise on and fits into our overall financial plan.
We are still contemplating if we want to keep our HDB for rental or do the famous Sell 1 and Buy 2. Do share your thoughts in the comment below. Will do a subsequent update on this after more research and discussion.
Thanks for staying till the end and do support me at my Referral and Store Pages. Appreciate your support and in this year of Bull, I wish all of you good health and prosperity in the years ahead. Ohhhh and to those couples out there, Happy Valentine's Day too!
